2009

2009's list has many great albums but for some reason only few of them really effected me on a personal level. The range is quite wide from melancholic folk tunes to melodic surf rock and heavy grunge guitars. There's definitely something for everyone. It has some of the best looking album covers as well. What can I say? The list includes many excellent debut albums and great pieces of work from bands that have been around for decades. I had to leave some good albums out again so enjoy these ones!

2010

2010 was an outstanding year in music. I had to leave many really good albums out of this list. It has many albums on it that have effected me a lot on a personal level. The year 2010 brought many changes in my life and the music obviously reminds me of those experiences and the feelings I was going through. One of the great things in writing this blog is that I can return to certain parts of my life and remember them through music. I'm sure that you can enjoy these albums as well, because they're all fantastic. I've had the pleasure to see every one of these bands live except one. They're all really good live as well, so I encourage you to buy the tickets if you have the chance.

2011

About a year ago I published a list of the best albums of 2011 in Kersantti Pippuri. I think I made some hasty desicions back then. It's really hard to make a list of the same years albums 'cause you haven't had enough time to really get to know the long term effects of the albums and more good albums are found later on. I think this list is more up to date when it comes to the top 10 of 2011. I still think that 2011 wasn't among the best years in published albums, but this list has some very enjoyable albums all the same.

2012

I know it is a bit early to publish a list of the best albums of this year, because there is still over a month to go before 2013. I still think it's best to get this blog started and the list contains some really good albums already. I had to leave out some good ones too. This will happen many times during this blog. Ten albums a year is far too few to give credit to all the good ones. Some of these albums may end up in a different order when the time goes by. It's always hard to make a list of new albums, 'cause there hasn't been enough time to really see which tunes will last the passing of time. But enough chit-chat. Let me begin.

Introduction

It's been a while since we last wrote any posts in our previous music blog Kersantti Pippuri. One of the reasons is a lack of a proper theme. Originally we started music blogging with a project to list our all time top 100 albums. The list is now a bit outdated  on my part but I still don't see a reason to do that again. Also, I want to write in English this time for the enjoyment of my many newly found friends in London and all over the world.

Now that the year 2012 is coming to an end, I started to look back the albums of this year. I love making lists of great music and I knew I was going to make some sort of list about the best albums of this year. This brought me an idea to display top 10 lists of each year. I can probably go as far in the past as the 60's. Before that it would be sort of hard to find 10 really good albums from each year. I will start with the top 10 of this year and go chronologically down presenting a top 10 list of each year. There have been some really good albums throughout the history of pop music and I want to honour those albums. Hopefully I can introduce some bands for new listeners and make some readers go back in time and feel the nostalgia!

I'm not claiming that I can make objective lists, but I'm counting on how I feel. I don't care how popular these albums have been, how good their sales rates were or what critics said. I'm rating the albums according to my taste. I'm going to write a little description of each album that I introduce and hoppefully fit in some interesting trivia as well. I also try to find some sort of link to listen to the album. The easiest way is to make link to Spotify or Sound Cloud, but since it is not possible with all the albums you might have to do some searching yourselves if you want to listen to all of these.
